How to translate a listing for international sites

Translate a listing as a draft: localize keywords, units and claims, lock a glossary, then have a human review the title before you publish.

Steps

  1. Freeze the source listing

Fix pack count, materials and claims in the source language first. Translating a moving draft creates two catalogs that never match.

  2. Write a short do-not-translate glossary

Brand, model names, material codes, “USB-C”, SKU. Reuse it so the second marketplace sounds like one brand, not twenty dialects.

  3. Translate title, bullets and description

Open Listing Translator and keep the listing structure. Then replace keywords with local search language. Convert units instead of translating numbers only.

  4. Human-review the title, then paste to the destination

A person confirms claims, trademarks and whether the product matches the copy. CrossKit does not publish for you. Recheck option names so Size/Color are not left in English on a local PDP.

Localize keywords, not only words

A fluent title that nobody searches will not rank. After you translate title, bullets and description, replace keywords with terms shoppers type on that marketplace. Voltage, apparel sizes, warranty lines and legal claims must change. Brand names and SKU codes stay in a glossary so a model does not “helpfully” translate them.

AI copy is a draft

Listing Translator prepares text in the browser. It does not publish to Amazon, Shopify or TikTok Shop, and it does not replace a native speaker on bestsellers or regulated categories. Units and certificates are where machines fail quietly. Treat every output as a draft for human review.

What not to clone across stores

You can share structure: product type, proof bullets, what’s in the box. You cannot share English-only keywords, inch-only sizes, or claims that are illegal in the destination. Recheck images for leftover English infographics. Check and tighten the source listing first so you do not scale a weak draft.

One listing vs a catalog

Use Listing Translator for a full page: title, bullets, description. After a glossary exists, Batch Translator covers many rows. Do not translate handles, image URLs or HTML tags. Spot-check about ten bestsellers in-market before you import the long tail.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I translate backend search terms?

Yes, into local synonyms shoppers might type. Do not translate SKUs. Do not repeat the visible title word-for-word in backend terms.

Is machine translation enough to publish?

It is a draft. Bestsellers, regulated categories and titles need a native pass. Units and certificates are the quiet failure mode.

Can CrossKit publish translations to Amazon?

No. It prepares text in the browser. You paste into Seller Central or your listing tool.
