Affiliate Copy Desensitization: Reuse Winning Copy Without Getting Flagged
Why affiliate copy needs a desensitization pass
Affiliate and AI-generated copy is fast, but it repeats the patterns it learned: superlatives ("best", "#1"), medical or safety claims, and competitor brand names. Marketplaces read those as risk, not marketing. A desensitization pass keeps the persuasive structure and removes the parts that get listings flagged.
The 4-step pass
1. Draft with the angle, not the claims
Generate variants from your product facts with the AI Copywriter. Give it features and audience, not adjectives — you want structure, not promises.
2. Strip the risk list
Search the draft for: superlatives, health/medical verbs (cure, heal, treat), "guaranteed", "FDA approved", "waterproof" without an IP rating, and competitor brands. Delete or replace each with a verifiable fact.
3. Localize, do not translate
Run the cleaned copy through the Listing Translator. Idioms and claims that are legal in one country are often illegal in another — the German market in particular rejects absolute claims.
4. Audit before publishing
Paste the final title and bullets into the Listing Checker to catch length breaches and banned phrasing you missed by eye.
Before / after example
Before: "The best pain-relief mat on Amazon — clinically proven and guaranteed to fix your back."
After: "High-density foam mat with a non-slip base, 6 mm cushioning, machine-washable cover."
Same product, same buyer benefit, none of the claims that trigger a suppression.
Make it a workflow, not a chore
This is exactly the loop our Listing Publish Pack automates: draft → optimize → audit, with each step handing its result to the next tool.
